I think this could be a very interesting idea. The mayor of Haifa sent a letter to Ehud Barak requesting that if the Mavi Marmara (the Turkish ship boarded during the flotilla shenanigan a few months ago) is confiscated, it be given to Haifa to turn into a hotel and use as a symbol of the importance of inter-religious and international cooperation. Certainly it’s a little iffy, vis a vis Israel’s right to confiscate the ship from Turkey. But if Israel does take it why not give it to Haifa to commemorate what happened? Better that than it sitting in the port unused for months or years on end.
